Dear Dr. Swami,

Dandavat pranams all glories to Sri Krishna !!

I would like to thank you for your sharing of your Char Dhama photos. I was enlivened by them; as I lived in India for 7 years and went to Gangotri and Gaumukha as well as Yamunotri in 1993.

You and your dear wife look so happy together as you tour the Holy Dhama; such a lovely couple you make. I am sure it was a wonderful trip to remember and it gives you such a lot of sukrti for the future. Thank you again for sharing.

Best Regards,
Sacinandana

Mail to Dr. Swami

Dear Dr. Swami,

Greetings!

I have downloaded the PDF file on Surya Namaskar (SN) from your site. I understood the wonders of SN after going through the same.

I am already practicing sandhi vidhi/ Sandhyavandanam. I would like to start doing SN as well. I have a clarification before starting SN:

I have inguinal Hernia for a year or so now. I am trying cure of the same through Homeopathic medicines to avoid surgery. Given this, I have seen your PDF (Do’s and Don’ts) in which you have mentioned that people suffering from Hernia to avoid SN.

Just out of eagerness to perform SN, I am already wearing a Hernia belt, Can I try doing SN slowly wearing the belt?

Best Regards,
Sai

Mail from Dr. Swami to Sai Chander

Hello Sai Chander,

Thank you for your email.

Safety is the number one goal in any and all exercises including SN. Persons suffering with hernia problems must NOT do SN. In fact, before you do any exercise, not only SN, but any exercise, you must consult a trained physician and Yoga therapist who will be able to physically inspect you, listen to your problems, watch whatever you are trying to do in any exercise, observe its impact on your hernia or other problems etc. and in a position to advise you what you can do, what you cannot do etc. Your health at the present time must be guarded aganist any further harm by what you do, so please do not do any exercise reading from any blogsites. Please see a yoga therapist near where you live, discuss in detail with your health problems and pose the questions of what exercise you can do, what you cannot do etc.

The following yoga experts that I know living in Bangalore, India will be able to provide further advice. It is best if you can go and see them. If not, at least try to write to them to get better advice. Their emails are:

Dr. Nagaratna   –   rnagaratna@gmail.com

  Mr. Raghuram   –   nv.raghuram@gmail.com

By the way, I am not a medical doctor but do have doctorate in Engineering and hence I am addressed as Dr. R. Narayanaswami. I do not have clinical expertise to offer any medical advice to any person. I will always refer persons to clinically knowledgeable yoga therapists or physicans. Your health is the most important aspect and you must consult knowledgebale health and yoga professionals before you start any yoga program including SN.

Kind regards,
R. Narayanaswami

Comments: I should appreciate the publication of the krama patam for Rudram-Chamakam. We are currently using this to learn from Krama patam from our Guru Sri. Brahmasri. Yagneswara Dikshitar. During the process, we found a couple of places, were the swarams were misplaced. We will try to get these to you sometime soon for you to incorporate in the text. Also how do you do the composing of the text. I want to compose the same in tamil with numbers or different fonts for different aksharams along with swara marking. CUrrent editors donot provide any facility for the swara marking.

Comments: Thank you for sharing your experience of Chardham Yatra.

As it blossomed and brought back my memories as I relived my own Chardham Yatra that I undertook some 28 years before, in 1981, as a part of a longer Yatra – Dwadasha Jyotirlinga Yatra – that I undertook for my mother, brother was my father-like.
